Why founders are forced to ignore the best advice for building startups + a NEW framework to qualify problems worth solving

By Alex Revill, Founder & Author at ProblemKit

DESCRIPTION

Alex was on the hunt for a fresh startup idea.

With no time to wait for lightning to strike—and after six years helping industry scientists, engineers and executives identify new strategic venture opportunities—he knew he needed one thing to set him up for success: a truly great problem to solve.

But where do you get one of those?

And how do you tell a ‘great’ problem from a dud, before you’ve even tried to solve it?

It turns out… it’s not obvious.

Amid the ambiguity, many emerging founders fall victim to the siren song of seductive distractions that lead them (and their investors) into the rocks. For some, it feels as if they didn’t even have a choice.

In this 30-minute talk, Alex exposes the recent history that explains why founders are increasingly solving crummy problems—often without realising it—and introduces a new framework for qualifying problems that are truly worth solving.

Helping founders choose better problems to solve is now his obsession at ProblemKit.co.

DETAILS ‼️ PLEASE READ

Duration 30 minutes + Optional 15-minute Q&A. Can be shortened to 20 minutes.
Outcome Your audience gains a new perspective on why founders routinely choose weak problems to solve, and is equipped with a new method to quickly and effectively screen problem statements before embarking on the startup journey. This applies equally to side hustles, lifestyle businesses and other non-VC approaches to making things that people love.
Presentation Requirements I speak with a PowerPoint presentation that must be presented from my own device, a MacBook Pro, via HDMI, VGA, or wireless screen casting as available. There is no sound in the presentation. Unless otherwise agreed, my slides are not available for download and my talk should not be recorded or redistributed beyond the event. I’m not super loud, so a mic is appreciated if there are more than 25 people in the audience. I’m happy to give talks virtually, but I find F2F more engaging and I like to meet new people.
Pricing This is a paid talk with a heavy discount for education providers. POA.
